It has been one full year since this blogging adventure started for me. To say this journey hasn’t been difficult, stressful and sometimes overwhelming would be the understatement of the year. BUT, despite all that, I wouldn’t change any of it for the world. When I first started, I knew I had found an outlet from which to express my passion and a means to inspire other women to do the same.
Of course, the shopping and picture taking is the fun part, but most of my hours are spent researching and studying. Studying? Yes, studying! Who would have thought?
I remember sitting at my desk, having decided I was really going to do this and asking myself “where do I even start?” I had absolutely no idea what I was doing. My vision was clear, but the road that was going to lead me there was cloudy. My first step was to make a list, a list consisting of everything I thought I needed to do. It quickly grew to pages of to-do’s. Hours later and several strong pots of coffee in, a blogger sister reached out to me to tell me about this AMAZING community of which she was part. To this day, I still don’t know how she found me, but I am so grateful she did! My first thought was Oh-My-Gosh, another thing to research and another task to add to my never-ending list. But, I soon realized quite the opposite…
For all of you new or more seasoned bloggers, I have the best kept secret for you…a place where you can connect with over 500 blogger babes from all over the world. It’s called Style Collective. Ask questions, take courses on first steps to starting your business, to branding yourself (and being a complete #IT girl), to pitching brand partnerships and affiliate programs plus FTC disclosure rules and filing your taxes (which I totally just took advantage of #win)…the list goes on! Join chat groups and share the love on all your social media platforms. Style Collective has been a game changer for me and I honestly don’t know where I would be without the help and support of all my other #girlbosses.
So as the weekend approaches and you’re stressed out and awaiting that glass of wine, don’t forget to ask yourself, “What am I waiting for?” Everyone has dreams. Act on yours! Rather then sitting on the sidelines, go make it happen! Trust me, I know it can be a little scary, but being scared sometimes brings out our most inner strength (which we often don’t realize we even have). I know I still have a long way to go, but I am SO happy I made the decision. I hope this post will inspire you to do the same. You will not regret it!
