It has been one full year since this blogging adventure started for me. To say this journey hasn’t been difficult, stressful and sometimes overwhelming would be the understatement of the year. BUT, despite all that, I wouldn’t change any of it for the world. When I first started, I knew I had found an outlet from which to express my passion and a means to inspire other women to do the same.

Of course, the shopping and picture taking is the fun part, but most of my hours are spent researching and studying. Studying? Yes, studying! Who would have thought?

I remember sitting at my desk, having decided I was really going to do this and asking myself “where do I even start?” I had absolutely no idea what I was doing. My vision was clear, but the road that was going to lead me there was cloudy. My first step was to make a list, a list consisting of everything I thought I needed to do. It quickly grew to pages of to-do’s. Hours later and several strong pots of coffee in, a blogger sister reached out to me to tell me about this AMAZING community of which she was part. To this day, I still don’t know how she found me, but I am so grateful she did! My first thought was Oh-My-Gosh, another thing to research and another task to add to my never-ending list. But, I soon realized quite the opposite…

For all of you new or more seasoned bloggers, I have the best kept secret for you…a place where you can connect with over 500 blogger babes from all over the world. It’s called Style Collective. Ask questions, take courses on first steps to starting your business, to branding yourself (and being a complete #IT girl), to pitching brand partnerships and affiliate programs plus FTC disclosure rules and filing your taxes (which I totally just took advantage of #win)…the list goes on! Join chat groups and share the love on all your social media platforms. Style Collective has been a game changer for me and I honestly don’t know where I would be without the help and support of all my other #girlbosses.

So as the weekend approaches and you’re stressed out and awaiting that glass of wine, don’t forget to ask yourself, “What am I waiting for?” Everyone has dreams. Act on yours! Rather then sitting on the sidelines, go make it happen! Trust me, I know it can be a little scary, but being scared sometimes brings out our most inner strength (which we often don’t realize we even have). I know I still have a long way to go, but I am SO happy I made the decision. I hope this post will inspire you to do the same. You will not regret it!

Love,
B-Black

Lash Extensions

I spend WAY too long attempting to perfect my eyelashes every morning and they are never how I want them. I tell myself that if I keep applying mascara, my lashes will look fuller and longer. This is defiantly not the case. Naturally blonde eyelashes? Need I say more? So I am excited to tell you all about my new beauty obsession! Ladies, let me give you the secret that will change your beauty regiment and keep you feeling glamorous 24-7…lash extensions!

I recently visited the ladies at Charleston Lash + Beauty Bar in Mt. Pleasant and they are AMAZING! Jill and Amber are so knowledgable on the Xtreme Lash product and knew exactly how to make my lashes look longer and fuller while natural, not overdone. Each eyelash is bonded, one-by-one, to the natural lash using tweezers and a water resistant adhesive. The procedure takes 2 to 4 hours depending on how full you want your look to be. Ps. once you have your full set, all you need are “fills” every 3-4 weeks depending on how fast your hair grows.

Lash extensions are not only great for special occasions, but are a really amazing add on to your everyday beauty regiment. For those who are not in Charleston, be sure to find a Xtreme Lashes Lash Extension advisor in your area! If you do happen to be in Charleston, I highly recommend visiting the girls at Charleston Lash + Beauty Bar! Thank you again to Amber and Jill for making my experience so fantastic. I am excited to continue having this beautiful look!

Here are my before and after photos!

Fall Essentials at Lily Rain

Ya’ll I have partnered with Lily Rain to bring you some pretty amazing staple pieces to add to your closet this season. I know we are all itching to wear sweaters, boots and anything cozy and warm, but this unusually warm weather is really cramping our style. Am I right? So when in doubt, stick to layering pieces. They will get you a long way, are versatile and can make several different outfits. It’s a win, win.

My long sleeve tee is from my fave essential brand, Z Supply and is super soft. I know you are all wondering about this shawl because it is really the focal point of this entire outfit. And to answer your question, yes it feels like wearing a cozy blanket! Shawls are great because you get the look and feel of a heavy sweater without sweating your buns off.

I am absolutely loving this year’s color palette of deep burgundy’s, golds and greens and I am clearly embracing it in this outfit. To finish off this october-ary season…open toe booties. You can’t go wrong. Common’ ladies, fall boots that let your feet breathe a bit? Duh!

I am so excited to share with ya’ll my first at home teeth whitening experience! Smile Brilliant made it so easy for me to keep my smile looking fresh especially with all my coffee and red wine drinking habits. In less then 10 minutes I was able to do my impressions and drop them in the mail.

About a week later I received my custom trays. Each whitening syringe gave me about 3 treatments and depending on which package you choose (3,6, or 9), that could be 9,12, or 27 whitening treatments! I have to be honest, my teeth are already pretty white, however it’s really important to have a good regiment to prevent future staining and to manage every day staining from food and drinks. Between what feels like weddings overload this year to blog photos, keeping my teeth pearly white is a MUST! Am I right?

Have sensitive teeth? So do I, but not to worry. The desensitization gel is AMAZING! I have always had sensitive teeth and gums so I was a little hesitant about whitening. The desensitizing gel really did the trick. Just apply directly after whitening. If your teeth are in need of some extra loving, but you don’t want to break the bank, Smile Brilliant is absolutely the way to go!

Ladies, let me present to you the PERFECT transitional knit that you need to add to your closet! I know that most of us have already been to Starbucks for the inevitable #pumpkinspicelatte, bought some fall-ish smelling candle and started unpacking the essentials. It’s like Christmas in a box. But, let’s be honest…for most of us, it’s still 80 degrees out so wearing your favorite plaid button down and scarf isn’t realistic. This cozy knit is not only great for cooler nights, but makes for an easy layering piece when the temperature really starts to drop. This Emmanuel Shawl from BohoBlu comes in four colors (birch, black, royal blue and grey).  It is one size fits all and only $35 so makes for a great gift!

I’ve partnered with Boho Blu and 3 other bloggers to give 4 winners each a $25 gift certificate to BohoBlu. Visit my Instagram page for details!

Love,
